Crufts – the world’s largest dog show – starts this week.
There has been much controversy surrounding this event over the past few years, with concerns over the welfare of the animals and dogs being bred for looks rather than for health and temperament.
At Paws we have our own views about this event, both positive and negative, but we’d like to hear what our readers think.
Please do take 5 minutes to share your thoughts with us.

i went to crufts a few years back. it was good to see all the beautiful dogs, but i wasn’t a fan of how some of the owners handled their dogs. poor things have to stand around for hours on end every day, are constantly brushed and those with long fur around their face are also given limited access to water to stop their coat from spoiling. for me many of the owners are more concerned with winning rosettes than they are about their pets
I think there are good bits and bad bits. Lots of dogs get to have fun and show what they can do but I don’t think a dog should be judged just for what it looks like. Also, I don’t think it is good if everyone ends up wanting to have the same kind of dog that won Crufts, because it might not be the best dog for them to have.
